National Statistics
- 02-03 over 4.5 million children were reported abused or neglected....900,000 were substantiated:
- 60% neglected
- 20% physically abused
- 10% sexually abused
- 10% were emotionally abused
- Last year 1400 children died as a result of abuse.
- Total annual cost of child abuse and neglect in the U.S. (both direct and indirect) is 95 billion dollars.
Research indicates between 50 and 70% of men who assault their female partners also abuse their children. |
